Elizabeth Howell

HeadshotElizabeth Howell (Lizzie) (she/her/hers) is the Program Coordinator for the Keyman Modern Turkish Studies Program at the Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute of Global Affairs. In this role, she is responsible for event organization and promotion and other program communications and administration. Lizzie is also a PhD candidate in History at Northwestern. She is completing her dissertation, which examines how Turkish and other Muslim migrants to Austria and Germany negotiated their religious practices with the states and societies of their host countries from 1945 to 2001.Previously, she served as the Interdisciplinary Graduate Assistant for the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University (HEFNU). She holds a BA in history, religion, and German studies from Emory University, an MA in history from Stanford University, and an MA in history from Northwestern University.
